EQUITY
IN ATHLETICS DISCLOSURE ACT
20
U.S.C. 1092(g) -- 34
CFR 668.48
Coeducational institutions that have intercollegiate athletics programs must now disclose total revenues and total expenses. Reporting these totals was required previously only of institutions that award athletically-related aid under an audit requirement in the Program Participation Agreement that was removed in the 1998 amendments. Institutions must submit the EADA reports to the Secretary of Education who must make them available to the public. (http://www.ed.gov/policy/highered/leg/hea98/sec486.html). Also, the Chronicle of Higher Education provides a search engine to examine the reported information by individual institution or conference, and allows for comparisons. In accordance with the
requirements of the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act, Washington and Lee
University has prepared an annual report on its intercollegiate men's and
women's athletic program participation rates and financial support data. The
report is on file with and may be obtained by any student, prospective student,
or member of the public from the Office of the Athletic Director, the
Admissions Office, and the Communications Office.
